Suspect Named In St. Petersburg Homicide
The victim's body was found in a parking lot last week by a teenage boy walking to his school bus stop.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is looking for help locating a man its detectives say is responsible for the murder of a man found dead in a parking lot last week.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Juan Carlos Jimenez, 33, in connection with the death of Shermaun Akins, the agency reported Tuesday.
Akins, 32, was found dead in the parking lot at Alta Mar at Broadwater apartments by a teenage boy who was walking to a school bus stop. The 5:27 a.m. April 7 discovery in the 3856 34th Terrace S. parking lot kicked off an investigation into what police have classified as a murder. Akins died from upper body trauma, police have said.

Details about how Jimenez has been connected to the case were not released Tuesday. Police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call them at 727-893-7780. Tips may also be sent via text by texting SPPD+ the tip to TIP411.
