Lee Wetherington Homes breaks ground on new Hemingway model at Westlake in Wellen Park

Lee Wetherington Homes breaks ground on new Hemingway model at Westlake in Wellen Park

VENICE, Fla. -- Lee Wetherington Homes, a top-rated, privately owned custom luxury home builder in Sarasota, has broken ground on the Hemingway, a new model home in Westlake at Wellen Park.

The 4,075-square-foot Hemingway will offer four bedrooms, four full and two half baths, along with a den, exercise room/sauna and bonus room. One of its most distinctive features is a private casita with its own bedroom, bath and kitchenette. With its own entrance from the front porch, the casita is designed to function as a separate living space while remaining part of the home. That makes it particularly well suited to intergenerational living, giving an aging parent or adult child greater privacy and independence while keeping family close. It can also provide comfortable accommodations for extended-stay guests.

“The Hemingway’s adaptability accommodates the different ways families live today,” said Debra Thomas, sales associate at Wellen Park for Lee Wetherington Homes. “The casita gives someone a space of their own while keeping them connected to the rest of the household. At the same time, the home has plenty of gathering spaces where everyone can come together. We think that combination will appeal to a lot of families.”

The Hemingway’s exterior takes architectural inspiration from classic Key West style, while its interiors will have a lighter, more contemporary coastal feel. Wide-plank wood floors, soft textures, organic patterns, and brushed-gold will be paired with an inviting palette of muted greens, airy neutral tones and soft blush accents. Custom trim and ceiling details will add coastal character throughout the home. A large, covered lanai and outdoor kitchen will provide additional space for dining and entertaining, accented by tongue-and-groove ceiling details.

The primary suite will be a standout, extending beyond the traditional bedroom and bath to include a dedicated exercise room and outdoor sauna. Designed for stretching, yoga and more traditional workouts, the exercise room will feature a mirrored wall and a dramatic backlit salt-wall feature.

The Hemingway is located at 19037 Sweet Pepper Circle in Westlake at Wellen Park and will be open to the public in August 2027.

“Wellen Park is one of the fastest-growing master planned communities in the nation which speaks to the incredibly special lifestyle being created here and its premium location,” said David Hunihan, Lee Wetherington Homes’ CEO. “We’re thrilled to add a new model home here as another great option for homebuyers looking for an exceptional floorplan surrounded by parks, trails, entertainment, shopping and dining in Downtown Wellen. This walkable community provides a strong sense of place with everyday conveniences offering home buyers long term value and a diverse lineup of home choices that we’re proud to be a part of.”
