Authorities say he called 911 himself, and she was found with a single gunshot wound. Edgerton faces a second-degree murder charge and is being held without bond in Sarasota County Jail. 
2. WATERLINE: Myakka River bill pushed in Congress (yoursun.com) — A federal bill to add a 34-mile Sarasota County stretch of the Myakka River to the Wild and Scenic Rivers program is moving forward with formal support from the City of Venice. The same report details a separate fatal motorcycle crash at Clark and McIntosh roads, as state troopers continue investigating both incidents.
4. Flock of Flamingos seeks to spread smiles (yoursun.com) — A volunteer troupe called Flock of Flamingos has been bringing costumed dance parties and "flamingo kisses" to residents at Elison of Bella Vita Assisted Living in Venice and nearby towns. Started by two Englewood friends, the 45-member group appears at parades, markets, and private celebrations, always free of charge. Any donations they receive go directly to breast cancer research, and locals are welcome to join.
