Rooftop helipad gets initial OK as West Palm Beach moves controversial downtown growth plan forward (wpbf.com) — West Palm Beach's Planning Board has advanced a new Downtown Master Plan and backed a proposed rooftop helipad in CityPlace, despite residents' calls to slow development. The plan, which could allow taller projects like a high-rise at the Jaguar dealership site, now heads to the City Commission after an Oct. 6 public workshop.
2. Hyrox, Orangetheory to Stage Joint Classes at Eudemonia Summit (athletechnews.com) — West Palm Beach will host the Eudemonia Summit from November 5–8, featuring daily Hyrox fitness classes run in partnership with Orangetheory inside a new 2,000-square-foot gym. The health-focused gathering will spotlight everything from sleep and recovery to nutrition and movement, giving local fitness fans a chance to sample a major international training brand close to home.
3. Detectives say Grindr messages helped identify man charged in teen sex case (cw34.com) — West Palm Beach police helped launch an investigation that led to the arrest of a Fort Lauderdale man accused of unlawful sexual activity with a 17-year-old. Detectives traced messages, photos, and a Mercury Street address in West Palm Beach to identify the suspect, who is now facing two felony counts and a $60,000 bond.
4. Police: Wallet taken after pipe attack outside O'Shea's Pub in West Palm Beach (cbs12.com) — West Palm Beach police say a man was attacked with a pipe and robbed of his wallet outside O'Shea's Irish Pub in downtown earlier this month. Officers arrested 39-year-old Larry Williams Yorker, who allegedly admitted hitting the victim and now faces a robbery with a deadly weapon charge after the incident was captured on video.
5. Breeze Airways adds nonstop GSP route to West Palm Beach. Here's when (goupstate.com) — Nonstop flights from Greenville-Spartanburg to West Palm Beach will launch Dec. 18, giving residents and visitors a new low-cost option into the city's airport. Breeze Airways will run the route twice weekly with introductory one-way fares starting at $59, expanding access to South Florida's Gold Coast.
