1. Wildwood Begins Barwick Street Improvements Project (352today.com) — Drivers in Wildwood should expect months of delays along Barwick Street as the city rebuilds the roadway and upgrades drainage and utilities between Warfield Avenue and St. Clair Street. Work, which began this week and will last about nine months, aims to fix chronic flooding while preserving historic oak trees where possible. Residents will keep property access but should watch for closures and detours. 
2. Hit-and-run suspect arrested after running into mailboxes in Wildwood (villages-news.com) — A Wildwood resident was arrested after deputies say he hit several neighborhood mailboxes with his truck in Wildwood and left without reporting the damage. Surveillance video and a follow-up visit to his County Road 121D home led to charges of hit-and-run involving property damage and resisting without violence.
3. Two suspects apprehended in stolen car near Okahumpka Service Plaza (villages-news.com) — Two 20-year-olds were arrested after a deputy stopped a reportedly stolen Nissan Altima on I-75 in Wildwood as it headed north toward the Okahumpka Service Plaza. Investigators say the pair had been allowed to stay overnight at the car owner’s home, then allegedly left with his vehicle, wallet, and cards before being booked into the Sumter County Detention Center.
4. 60-year-old Georgia trucker dies after multiple crashes on I-75 near Wildwood (villages-news.com) — A fatal chain-reaction crash late Monday shut down all southbound lanes of I-75 near Wildwood, forcing traffic onto State Road 44 until about noon Tuesday. A 60-year-old Georgia trucker died and another driver was seriously hurt after multiple tractor-trailers collided in debris from an earlier wreck near Mile Markers 325–326. Local drivers likely felt major delays and detours through the area.
