9 Dead In GA New Year's Crashes, Authorities Say
The fatal crashes happened in various parts of the state, stretching from Statesboro to DeKalb County.
GEORGIA — New Year's Day crashes statewide claimed the lives of nine people, the Georgia Department of Public Safety reported around midnight Tuesday.
Authorities said the fatal crashes happened in Grovetown, South Fulton, Newton County, Columbia County, DeKalb County, Statesboro, Cobb County and Brunswick.
Details of the crashes were not released.

Ahead of the holiday season, public safety officials warned Georgia drivers to take precautions while on the roads. They estimated at least 115 million Americans traveled nationwide for Christmas and New Year's.
The New Year's traveling period ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
