Active Shooter Hoax Targets Georgia High Schools
Officials at schools where active shooters were reported to be Wednesday said investigations showed the reports were false.
GEORGIA — The FBI is investigating after several school campuses in Georgia received reports of active shooters that were determined to be hoaxes, according to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.
Cartersville High School, Savannah Early College High School, Savannah High School, Brunswick High School, Camden County High School and Valdosta High School are some of the schools that received reports of active shooters that were later determined to be false.
School officials in all of the respective districts have said investigations were completed, and there were no active shooters located at any of the schools. All of the districts reported no injuries and said all students are safe.

Cartersville Police said the report at Cartersville High was a hoax and that police are still investigating.
Students at some schools, including at Valdosta High, were released from school early.

In a statement, Kemp said the reports were part of "a cruel hoax." He said authorities searching school buildings included state troopers.
The hoax is being investigated by the FBI, Kemp said.
It is unknown where the hoax originated.
