Couple, Grandson Killed In Georgia Shooting Range Robbery: Police

Several agencies are offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect, according to a report.

GRANTVILLE, GA — An elderly couple and their grandson were killed Friday when they were shot during a robbery at a Grantville shooting range, according to police.

Grantville police were called to the Lock, Stock and Barrel Shooting Range on Bohannon Road after 8 p.m., authorities confirmed on Facebook.

When police arrived at the business, they found the owner, 75-year-old Thomas Richard Hawk Sr., dead from an apparent gunshot wound. His wife, Evelyn, and their 17-year-old grandson, Luke, were also shot and killed, according to police.

WSB-TV in Atlanta reported the names and ages of the victims.

Hawk's son, Richard, reportedly discovered the bodies before calling police, WSB-TV reported.

Coweta County Sheriff Lenn Wood expressed condolences for the family of Richard Hawk, noting he’s been a member of the county’s law enforcement community for decades and is “a committed public servant.”

Richard Hawk is the Coweta County coroner, AJC.com said.

According to police, about 40 firearms were taken from the range. A DVR security system was also stolen, police said. Authorities believe the robbery and shooting happened around 5:30 p.m.

A suspect has not been identified. Anyone who drove past the gun range about that time and saw any vehicles parked outside other than a white Ford truck or a black Ford Expedition are asked to call police at 770-583-2266.

Grantville police chief Steve Whitlock told WSB-TV the robbery and killings hit him "like nothing else ever has."

"I’ve been here eight years and we’ve never had anything like this," Whitlock told the station. "Right now, I’m just speechless. I have a hard time talking about it because they were friends of ours. I’ve known them for a long time."

A reward of up to $15,000 is being offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the City of Grantville, and the National Sport Shooting Federation for information leading to a suspect.
