'Dangerous Event' Prompts Lockdown At GA's Fort Eisenhower

Officials at the U.S. Army installation near Augusta issued the lockdown shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday.

FORT EISENHOWER, GA — A "dangerous event" at Fort Eisenhower prompted a lockdown Saturday morning at the U.S. Army installation located southwest of Augusta.

In a social media post shared just before 9 a.m., officials at the base executed lockdown actions and urged anyone who may be in danger to take appropriate action. The nature of the threat was unclear.

A spokesperson for the installation told WJBF-TV there was an “active threat” and no one was being allowed on or off the base.

The lockdown was lifted an hour later, according to officials.

"The dangerous event has passed," officials said on Facebook. "All personnel can resume normal operations at this time."
