GA Election 2024 Primary: Voter Registration Deadline Impending
As the March 12 presidential preference primary approaches, see how to vote early in Georgia.

GEORGIA — The 2024 primary election season in Georgia officially gets underway with a presidential preference primary on March 12.
But, if residents want to head to the polls early, they must be registered to vote by Monday. Early voting will be held from Feb. 19-March 8.
Monday is also the deadline for voter registration in the special election runoff for local races, which is scheduled for April 9.

Democratic voters will choose between U.S. President Joe Biden (incumbent) and challengers U.S. Congressman Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson in the presidential preference primary.
While Republican presidential candidates are former President Donald J. Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Georgia has 16 electoral votes at stake in the 2024 presidential election, which will be held on Nov. 5.
A resident can vote in Georgia regardless of party affiliation. Registration does not extend an opportunity to affiliate with a party, and voters cannot change affiliation online through a registration portal.
Who can vote in Georgia?
Registration can take place online via the Secretary of State’s Office or by downloading a printable application.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 1. Voters can request an absentee ballot online through the SOS office or by downloading a printable application. Completed ballots must be submitted to the elections office by 7 p.m. Election Day.

The deadline to register to vote in the state primary is Oct. 7. The procedures to request a ballot are the same as in the primary.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 25 following the same protocol as in the primary.
The general election ballot in Georgia will be certified on Sept. 16, and early voting begins on Oct. 15.
