More Than $83M To Be Allocated For Georgia Public Safety Projects
According to the governor, the funding will address law-enforcement staffing challenges and community-level public safety measures.
GEORGIA — More than $83.5 million in grant money will benefit 118 qualified public safety projects across several Georgia counties, according to Gov. Brian Kemp's office Thursday.
According to the governor's office, the community grants will be allocated "to improve community-level public safety measures and address law enforcement staffing challenges that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic."
The funding will benefit 87 Georgia public safety agencies, school districts, counties and cities, including:

"Public safety has always been a top priority of my administration and will continue to be," Kemp said in a news release. "With the increase in violent crime seen in communities across the country, including here in our state, we're sending reinforcements to keep hardworking Georgians and their neighborhoods safe. From tackling staffing needs to deploying new equipment and technology, these funds are being invested so that our brave first responders have the resources they need to fight back against dangerous criminals."
