Car Of Missing St. Pete Mom And Daughter Seen In GA, MS And TN

The St. Petersburg Police Department is working with agencies in Mississippi and other states to locate a missing mother and daughter.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The car of a missing mother and daughter has been seen in multiple states since the two women disappeared Thursday from their hometown of St. Pete, according to authorities. The two visited a St. Petersburg bank that morning, police said at a news conference Tuesday, but their activities since have been a mystery. They were last seen Friday on a traffic camera in Tennessee.

Angela Jolley, 46, and Alexis Jolley, 19, were recorded on their home security camera at 6:30 a.m. Thursday cleaning out Angela's black 2018 Toyota Camry, according to Detective Kevin Haemmelmann of the St. Petersburg Police Department.

After they readied the car, they calmly put their two dogs in the vehicle with them; and at 6:52 a.m., surveillance footage shows both women and the dogs in the car at a drive-thru ATM at GTE Financial bank on 38th Avenue in St. Pete. The bank is near their house, also on 38th Avenue North.

Police said Angela Jolley took an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM and transferred the money to other bank accounts. The surveillance video revealed a couple of unusual things.

Angela Jolley, an employee at the Bay Pines VA, is said by her employers to always be punctual and never late for work, where she reports for duty at 6:30 a.m.

Police said that the timeline of events might indicate that she was not planning to go to work that day.

"Now she is a very prompt employee and is always at work on time — they have no complaints about that," said Haemmelmann.

Her colleagues also told police that she never shows up to work not wearing her wig.

"Her co-workers advise us that Angela in that picture is not wearing her wig," said the detective, referring to the bank surveillance video.

Angela Jolley's stepfather lives with them, and he told officials the two didn't share anything with him about leaving St. Pete.

Worried by the sudden disappearance of Angela and Alexis Jolley, friends and family have put together multiple searches for the mother and daughter, who they say would never disappear without telling anyone where they were going.

"As detectives have continued to work this case, we have discovered updated locations of their vehicle," Haemmelmann said.

They have tracked the vehicle's location through the help of law enforcement agencies across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and other states.

"We have had to call individual departments along the way attempting to have this vehicle tag run through their database and tell us if it's hit on anything," said Haemmelmann.

At 11:29 a.m. the day they were reported missing, the Toyota Camry was captured on video outside Valdosta, Georgia, on Interstate 75 northbound, said authorities. This is the time frame it would take a vehicle to reach Valdosta after leaving St. Pete around 7 a.m.

"Later on that day, at 4:35 p.m., the vehicle is captured heading westbound on Interstate 20 west of Atlanta towards Alabama," said Haemmelmann. This was confirmed by video footage in the area, he added.

"At 7:23 p.m. that same evening, that vehicle is captured on Highway 82 in Columbus, Mississippi," Haemmelmann said. "Somewhere between there and Memphis, that vehicle we believe stopped for the night. Currently, we have detectives in multiple cities in Mississippi with flyers that are canvassing all local area motels in and along the major thoroughfares on the route we believe they traveled searching for video of them or that vehicle stopping at a hotel in that area for the evening."

Detectives believe they may have stayed somewhere in Mississippi on on Thursday night, because at 7:09 a.m. Friday, police were sent an image of the vehicle on camera exiting Mississippi and crossing the Tennessee state line just south of Memphis on Interstate 55. Police said this was the last time they saw the car.

Patch has included images of the car provided by the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other police agencies that shared them with the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Alexis Jolley, who is usually active on her social media accounts, has not posted any social media updates since the two have been missing, police said. The cell phones that belong to the mother and daughter were left behind inside their St. Pete residence and are now in the custody of police.

Friends and family have started a Facebook page called Bring Them Home.

Authorities said the two women were scheduled to fly out of the Tampa International Airport on Tuesday morning, but the airline confirmed to police that the women never boarded the plane. They had planned to visit family in Maine.

St. Petersburg police said they do not have a reason to believe that the women have returned to St. Pete, but they encourage everyone everywhere to be on the lookout for Angela and Alexis Jolley and contact authorities with any information. Haemmelmann said detectives will not close this case until they know the women are safe.

Police said the investigation has not revealed any family violence or issues that the women may have been experiencing.

The video police watched of the Jolleys loading their car did not show them packing big suitcases, and through a search warrant, police found that they left things back at their house that a person would normally pack for a trip.

"Angela and Alexis, if you can hear us, we are not looking to bring you back — we're not looking to tell anybody where you are, but what I need you to do if you are out there is to call me and tell me that you are OK so that we can stop searching," Haemmelmann said. "Because until I have contact with you, we will not stop searching for you."
