2 Dead In 3-Vehicle Pileup On I-75, Cobb Police Say
A three-vehicle crash, reportedly involving a Papa John's tractor-trailer, led to the deaths of two people on I-75 in Cobb, police say.
COBB COUNTY, GA — Two people died in a three-vehicle crash around 8:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 75, Cobb County Police said.
The crash happened on I-75 north of Hickory Grove Road near Acworth.
Police said a red 2023 Freightliner Cascadia tractor was pulling a 2025 utility van trailer as it approached the Cherokee County line in the right lane of I-75.

Subsequently, a white 2019 Freightliner Cascadia was heading north in the lane next to the red Cascadia, police said.
Zory Beavers, 28, of Conyers, identified by police as the driver of the red Cascadia, was accused of failing to maintain his lane and crashing into the white Cascadia.

The red Cascadia then continued north as it returned to the right side and and spun in a clockwise direction, police said.
The front of a white 2018 Ram 3500, which was pulling a flatbed trailer, crashed with the back of the utility trailer and turned in a westerly direction before stopping across the interstate lanes, police said.
The red Cascadia continued circling north as it overturned onto its left side and crashed into a wall on the right shoulder in the grass, where it stopped, police said.
Beavers and his passenger, 42-year-old Norcross resident Royan Osborne, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner, police said.
The remaining two drivers were not injured in the crash, police said.
Papa John's shared a statement with CBS News, saying one of the tractor-trailers involved in the deadly crash belonged to them.
"The safety of our team members and the communities we serve is a top priority. Our thoughts are with all those who may be affected, and we will continue to support the investigation as it moves forward," Papa John's reportedly said.
