Acworth Student Wins National Merit Scholarship

Jason S. Johnston, a graduate of , is among the 8,300 winners of the 2011 National Merit Scholars. Johnston received a National Merit Scholarship to attend the University of Alabama, and is looking to pursue a career in physics upon graduation.

College-sponsored awards in the National Merit program provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced that these distinguished high school graduates will receive scholarships for undergraduate study worth a total of nearly $35 million.
