Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy Wins Award at Regional Robotics Competition

The Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy RoboHawks team won the Inspiration Trophy at the First Lego League regional competition held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Palmer Middle School.

The League is a robotics program for students ages 9 to 14 years old that’s designed to engage them in science and technology and teach them employment and life skills.  Students compete by programming an autonomous robot to score points on a thematic playing surface and creating an innovative solution to a problem as part of their project.  The League’s Core Values emphasize that participants learn how to combine friendly competition and mutual gain and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

The RoboHawks won the Inspiration Trophy, which is a Core Value Award presented to the team that is most empowered by their League experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.  Their excellent performance also led the RoboHawks to be invited to compete in a Super Regional Tournament in January.

Team members are: Jacob Adams, Steven Aranda, Bobby Ashley, Kaylee Barnes, Frank Beltran, Micah Brooks, Emesh Fernando, Giovanna Gonzalez, Zechariah Griffin, Anna Haughey, Ashley Lago, Caitlyn Lago, Charlie Meyer, Sara Oburu, Gwendolyn Peppers, Cindy Reeves, Jason Rodriquez, Noah Sherman, Lauren Wheeler and Max Woolford.

The team is coached by Teresa Bailey.
