Aspiring Cobb Cop Excels at National Conference
The 17-year-old was one of three finalists for the position of national representative of the Law Enforcement Explorer program.
A Cobb County teenager turned heads in Indianapolis during the National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference, held between July 14-19.
According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Oscar Escarcega was one of three police explorers vying to become the organization’s national representative, an office responsible for representing Law Enforcement Exploring at official functions, coordinating between explorers in the field and the National Committee, and serving as the face of the program.
Escarcega is a captain in the Cobb County Law Enforcement Exploring post, which has been the best post in Georgia for the past six years. The Osborne High School student plans to attend university and expects to become a Cobb County police officer when he turns 21.

Law Enforcement Exploring consists of 33,000 explorers aged 14 to 21 and over 8,000 adult volunteers who teach young men and women interested in careers in law enforcement.
