Cold Weather Approaches
Tips on preparing for cold weather that is getting ready to arrive.

The cold weather is beginning to knock on our doors. Over night during the Covering the Bases event, I had on a heavy jacket and brought my fleece blanket from home and I was still cold so hopefully this isn't a sign of a frigged winter.
Just some reminders to all the citizens of Acworth and surrounding areas to make sure that if the temperatures are going to be plummeting into the 40s and 50s, to dress warmly and to dress in layers. It's better to be over dressed than be extremely cold.
Also, in the mornings, you also want to make sure that you warm your vehicle up before taking off for the morning. By doing this, your car has time to warm up as well as make the car warm for you when you get in it. (I did that this morning and I am thankful that I did). Also it would be a good time to make sure that your vehicle is winterised. Since cold weather is approaching, it would not be a bad idea to look into that.

Let's not forget about our four-legged friends. If they are primarily outside pets, keep an eye on the weather, and try to make alternate plans for them at night. Just because they have a heavy coat, doesn't mean that they don't get cold.
If you have children that ride the bus to school, you may want to send them to the bus stop with a jacket. It can be a light jacket or a heavy jacket, depending on how cold it is.

Hopefully we are not in for a harsh winter like we were last year. I have come to find that down here in Georgia, especially in the metro area, we get more icy roads than snow. That's not to say that we don't get snow at all, but we are more prone to get icy roads which can be dangerous. So if you are planning on traveling, please follow the suggestions of our wonderful weather teams throughout Georgia.
