Cobb County Bicyclist Hit by Car Stuck in Disability Limbo Following Surgeries
Dorian Stevens can't get disability payments until the two companies he works for can make an arrangement.

Dorian Stevens is doubtless thankful to be alive after being hit and nearly killed by a car while riding his bicycle in Marietta in August, but he is also growing frustrated with a dispute between his employers which is keeping him from receiving disability benefits.
On Aug. 13 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Kroger employee Stevens was riding his bicycle to work along Franklin Road when he was hit by an SUV as he tried to cross Cobb Parkway. Stevens was taken to WellStar Kennestone hospital in serious condition, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in August.
WSB-TV reports that Stevens has medical insurance through Kroger, which has handled the bills incurred by two broken legs and a shattered left arm, but Kroger’s union disability insurer won’t pay out to Stevens until they receive additional paperwork from FedEx. Stevens also works for FedEx on a part-time basis, the station says.

According to WSB-TV, FedEx says they can’t provide that paperwork until they get more medical information. The station was not able to elaborate as to the nature of the additional medical information FedEx was requesting.
The merry-go-round has ruined Stevens’ finances and has forced him to live with friends until the disability checks start coming.

Despite Stevens’ unfortunate situation, he told WSB-TV that he is more concerned about his mother’s struggles to adapt to their new circumstances.
