Faith Corner: Cornerstone Prep

Cornerstone Prep Academy in Acworth takes a unique approach to education. The school is a combination of a “university model and the best of public and private schools”, according to a recent release from the school. The model allows students to receive the benefits of a great education while giving students more time with their families. 

“Students of elementary age through high school attend classes the way most college students do. Students receive professional instruction by highly qualified and degreed instructors, and then study for their classes independently under a parent’s guidance,” said Jeannie Borders, administrator and founder of the school. “This results in the immediate goal of a quality, cost-effective, college preparatory education, set in a Christian environment.”

Keith and Sandra Bergquist of Acworth found a way to “bridge the academic gap” for their home-school family five years ago. “Someone recommended CPA and after meeting with them, we felt called here,” said Keith Bergquist. Sandra said that their children can experience a different type of school community, while parents are able to be involved in their education. "The people are the greatest resource here, all working together in the same direction under Christ," she said.

The common goal of the teachers and parents at Cornerstone is to help develop Christian character among the students and prepare them for academic excellence in college.

Cornerstone Prep Academy also offers sports teams, clubs, pep band and intramurals. Drama, music, art, computer technology and other courses and activities are also available to students. 

Cornerstone Prep Academy is one of only two certified National Association of University Model Schools in Georgia. It is located at on Moon Station Lane.
