Faith Corner: Harvest Baptist Church
Learn more about area church-Harvest Baptist Church from Assistant Pastor Jamie Smithey.
Acworth contributor Cindy Butson asked Assistant Pastor Jamie Smithey about Harvest Baptist Church.
Acworth Patch: When was the church established?
Pastor Jamie Smithey: began meeting in the fall of 1971 in the home of Ernest Tudor on Shallowford Road in Kennesaw. By mid-December, the number of people attending had outgrown the Tudor’s home and the church began meeting at the Blackwell Elementary School on Canton Road in Marietta. During that same month at the first Christmas dinner, the men and their families gave a great sacrifice to purchase the property on which the former auditorium, school building and parsonage stood. In November 1994 on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, God gave us Pastor Dan Reed. Over the past years, God has blessed his ministry and our church with many saved and added to our Church. Seventeen plus years have now come and gone since Pastor Reed first came to Harvest Baptist Church. These have been wonderful and exciting years and we have seen the church grow and the ministries expand such that we are reaching people for Christ. And hopefully, impacting our area for Christ more than ever!
