A manufacturer of children’s strollers is recalling dozens of their models due to a folding hinge which can cut off fingertips if not properly secured.
Graco, which operates out of Atlanta, is recalling 4.7 million of their Graco and Century folding strollers which were sold at Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, Walmart, and online between August of 2000 and September of 2014. The company says that the strollers’ folding hinges pose a laceration or amputation hazard to the fingers of children seated inside.

The company has received six reports of fingertip amputations, four partial fingertip amputations, and a finger laceration, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.
Graco will begin distributing free repair kits to anyone who requests one beginning in December. Until that time, Graco urges parents to be especially attentive to the strollers’ folding hinge, ensuring it is fully locked before use. Parents should also remove a child from the stroller immediately if the stroller starts folding up.

Eleven stroller models have been recalled by Graco, and the company has provided a list of affected model numbers. The model number can be found at the bottom of the stroller leg above the rear wheel inside a white label.
The affected models and model numbers may be read in full on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.
