UPDATE: Home Struck by Lightning in Acworth

The lightning strike started a fire at the home on Mistflower Drive. Nobody was home at the time.

UPDATE (4:10 p.m.): Georgia Power crews have responded an Acworth home which was struck by lightning to pull the meter and shut off all power to the structure, Cobb County fire spokeswoman Dennell Boyd told Patch.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:51 p.m.): An Acworth home has caught fire following a lightning strike, Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services reports.

According to spokeswoman Dennell Boyd, firefighters have confirmed that a lightning strike caused the blaze at a home in the 600 block of Mistflower Drive on Wednesday afternoon. Mistflower Drive is just off of Bells Ferry Road.
