Windy Hill Corridor Roadwork Projects Begin on Oct. 20

The Cobb County Department of Transportation will embark on a 30-month, $34.5 million slate of projects to reduce traffic in the area.

Construction crews will soon be hard at work along the Windy Hill corridor, beginning a project which will cost more than $30 million dollars and is designed to alleviate congestion and reduce crash rates for Cobb County motorists.

According to the county web site, a groundbreaking for the project will be held on Oct. 20 for the 30-month, $34.5 million dollar project that plans to add medians and pedestrian facilities along a stretch of Windy Hill Road between its intersection with Cobb Parkway and its intersection with Powers Ferry Road.

Beginning in 2015, the intersection of Windy Hill Road and Cobb Parkway will be given a makeover to improve safety and reduce crash risks. Additionally, a diverging diamond interchange will be constructed above the Interstate 75 bridge overpass.
