4 Ways To Recycle Christmas Trees In Milton, Alpharetta
There are several options to get rid of your once-live tree in ways that are good for the Milton and Alpharetta community, and environment.
ALPHARETTA-MILTON, GA — The clean-up from Christmas is already underway for many families, leaving them with a large tree to dispose of. There are several options to get rid of your once-live tree in ways that are good for the Milton and Alpharetta community, and the environment.
1) Take It To Scottsdale Farms
Once you strip off the ornaments and lights, you can drop off your tree at Scottsdale Farms, 15639 Birmingham Highway, during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday. On Sundays, the store opens at 9 a.m.

The chipper is a piece of equipment that can give an old tree a second life by transforming it, in small pieces, into wood chips, mulch and more to beautify landscapes.
This is the City of Milton’s main tree recycling event. Bring your tree to the Milton High School parking lot closest to Freemanville Road, and the city’s partners at Casey Tree Experts will take it from there.
Because of calendar quirks, the 2022 “Bring One for the Chipper” event falls a little later than usual this year. It will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 8.
3) Bring One For The Chipper In Alpharetta
Be part of a 30-plus year tradition of giving a gift to Mother Nature by recycling your natural Christmas tree during the City of Alpharetta’s Bring One For The Chipper event on Sat., Jan. 8, 2022. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Home Depot, 5300 Windward Parkway.
To ensure everyone’s health and safety, the City of Alpharetta has put in place special protocols for this year’s event, staff and volunteers will be wearing face masks. Those bringing trees for donation are asked to remain in their vehicles while event volunteers unload your tree.
Those who bring a natural Christmas tree to be recycled may also submit a request form to request free mulch. While supplies last, Ferry Morse Seed Company will also provide free garden seed to those who Bring One For The Chipper.
And, if you have Christmas tree lights that you no longer want, bring those along when you drop off your tree, as those can be recycled, too.

4) Let Boy Scouts Handle It
If you’d prefer not to transport your tree – or, just as well, you want to pay it forward to a good cause – Boy Scout Troop 841 is on the case.
For a $15 donation (which must be made online), members of the Troop will come to you to get your tree. All you need to do is go to Troop 841’s webpage, click on “Let us collect your Christmas Tree!”, then enter the required information including your address to reserve a pick-up slot before 8 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2022.
After that, leave your tree outside by your mailbox the morning of Jan. 8. The Scout troop will pick it up sometime that day.
This will be the Troop 841’s 20th year of doing this – meaning some of the first Scouts to pick up trees in January 2002 now may be having their own trees picked up with their own kids.
