MILTON, GA — The death of Atlanta rap legend Lil Jon's son last month in Milton has been ruled an accidental drowning, according to media reports.

More specifically, the death of 27-year-old Nathan Smith was ruled a "drowning in the setting of psilocybin use," both People and CBS News reported Monday.

Psilocybin derives from specific fresh or dried mushrooms and can cause hallucinations, panic reactions and a psychotic-like episode, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Despite search efforts, police said they were initially unable to locate Smith. Divers with Cherokee County Fire and Rescue Services found his body three days around 11:53 a.m., Feb. 6, while teams searched a pond in Mayfield Park near Smith’s home.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office on Feb. 9 confirmed Smith's death.

His father remembered his son on social media when he was buried:

"On the first day of Ramadan yesterday, I laid my only son to rest. In this holy month, I’m asking for extra du’a for him and for our family. Please pray that Allah grants him Jannah and grants us sabr, mercy, and strength. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. I love you, son. Life will never be the same without you. Allah, give me strength. Also thank you to everyone who has reached out with condolences, love, and prayers we appreciate you all. ❤️ I will make sure the world knows your talent and never forgets your name.
