Alpharetta To Consider Apartment Moratorium
The City Council on Monday will consider a moratorium on accepting zoning applications related to for-rent uses in the city.

The Alpharetta City Council tonight will consider imposing a moratorium on applications involving for-rent residential units.
The council will consider the resolution during its meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at Alpharetta City Hall.
If approved, the moratorium would be in effect through March 2 and would put a hold on requests involving rezoning, conditional use, approval of or changes to a master plan or a change in a conditions of approval that relate to proposals to build for-rent units in the city.

The halt in accepting the applications would give city staff time to review parameters for apartments as either permitted or conditional uses in various zoning categories and develop regulations outlining their use in the city.
The proposal comes on the heels of the council last week approving changes to Avalon’s Phase II Master Plan, which allowed the company to build an additional 276 apartment units.
