The word “compost” means “to put together.” Composting involves combining food scraps, yard waste, newspaper, and other materials, and allowing them to decompose into nutrients that enrich the soil.

Gardeners call compost “black gold” because it is so rich in nutrients. This earth-friendly activity recycles some foods and yard waste, improves the quality of your garden soil, and helps to protect the quality of the water in our streams and lakes. It’s also a fun, easy, and inexpensive activity that your whole family can enjoy doing together.

To pre-register for this class, call (678) 297-6200. For more information, contact Terry Porter at (678) 297-6200 or tporter@alpharetta.ga.us.
