Woman Charged With DUI In Crash That Injured Alpharetta Cop

The officer, who was inside his vehicle, was conducting traffic assistance near Mansell Road when he was rear-ended early Thursday morning.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- An officer with the Alpharetta Police Department was injured early Thursday when he was rear-ended by a passing motorist along GA-400. Agency spokesperson Jason Muenzer said Officer Jomo Bent was in a fully-marked patrol vehicle around 4:30 a.m. Sept. 28 on the northbound side at Mansell Road when the accident took place.

The patrol car, he added, had all of its emergency lights activated, "providing traffic and safety control for a construction crew" when it was hit from behind by another vehicle.

Bent and the driver of the other vehicle, identified as Ceijai Broughton, were both transported to a nearby hospital for treatment (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).
