Alpharetta's Rock Mill Park Wins Project of Excellence Award
The North Georgia Water Planning District's STREAM Awards recognize initiative that are creative and have a positive impact on the region.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The city of Alpharetta has received accolades for Rock Mill Park.
The city was presented the region’s Watershed/Stormwater Project of Excellence STREAM Award at the 2016 Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District’s 15th Anniversary Celebration.
The metro water district’s STREAM award program honors projects that are environmentally friendly, thoughtful and creative, include the community, have a positive impact on the region and serve as a model for other communities.

"The hard work of the city's Recreation and Parks Department shows in every feature of the park," said Alpharetta City Councilman Jason Binder. "With walk, run and bike access points to the greenway trail and the park's ability to be used for all types of events such as field trips, press conferences and water festivals, I am not surprised the park was recognized."
Rock Mill Park, located at 3100 Kimball Bridge Road, green infrastructure and highlights the natural beauty of Big Creek. The facility includes engineered wetlands, enhanced swales, bioretention, a greenroof facility and native planting materials. Alpharetta also preserved many large stands of trees and wildlife habitat.

This is not the first award Rock Mill Park has received. The park’s beauty and functionality has led to recognition by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, American Society of Civil Engineers Georgia Section and the American Society of Landscape Architects, the city said.
