Cambridge High School Band Hosts Free Community Performance

The Cambridge High School Marching Band will host a free Community Performance on Monday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS Football Stadium to celebrate their upcoming trip to Grand Nationals in Indiana. Widely considered the "Superbowl" of high school marching band competitions, BOA's Grand National Competition is the most prestigious event for high school bands nationwide.

The Milton community certainly has reason to celebrate, as Cambridge is one of only two bands representing Georgia at Grand Nationals this year. Milton Mayor Peyton Jamison, Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis, CHS Principal Ashley Agans, and other community leaders will gather with hundreds of students, faculty, parents, musicians, and Milton residents to hear inspirational remarks from community leaders before watching the Cambridge band perform their 2024 award-winning show, "Unraveled.”

The ten-minute marching show features the music of Radiohead, Pat Metheny, Edda Mangason, Teddy Swims and Andy Akiho. Utilizing contemporary elements, "Unraveled" demonstrates visually, musically, and aesthetically, the process of unraveling. Throughout the performance, the program thematically unravels pieces from the costuming and props to reveal their innermost structure, symbolizing purity from chaos.

The Cambridge Marching Band includes nearly 100 hardworking student musicians who have spent more than 200 hours training since June to perfect their 2024 show. Under the leadership of Director Daniel Scott, the band has secured an impressive array of local, regional, and national awards.

Band Booster President, Cindy Roberts, commented, "The Cambridge Marching Band has worked so hard to prepare for their Grand Nationals performance. During marching season, the highlight of my week is watching these students perform. I can’t wait to cheer them on in Indianapolis."

The Community Performance will be held rain or shine, and there is no fee to attend. Gates to the Community Performance will open at 6 p.m. on November 11. Welcoming comments from community leaders are expected to commence at 6:30, with the band performing at 7 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to wear Cambridge attire, bring signs of encouragement, noise makers, and their loudest cheering voices to support the band and celebrate this very special milestone.
