Cambridge High School Plans Inaugural Homecoming JamBEARee

Cambridge High School (CHS) will kick off homecoming week with a ROAR this year as they launch the inaugural JamBEARee on Monday, September 9, from 5-8 p.m. The JamBEARee is a school-wide parade and backyard bash, with food trucks and outdoor festival-type activities before and after the parade for guests of all ages. This event is free to attend, with food and non-alcoholic beverages available for sale, as well as spirit swag and merchandise.

The JamBEARee Parade will include CHS-affiliated clubs, teams, organizations, in addition to the 2024 Homecoming Court. Other participants may include esteemed CHS alumni, CHS feeder programs, Milton Police and Fire Departments, Milton city officials, community businesses and youth programs. A dedicated Instagram page has been created to provide real-time event updates to the community.

Any Cambridge High School club, team or organization can register for the parade for FREE at www.cambridgebears.com/homecoming/jambearee. Registration must be completed by a club, organization, or a team's adult sponsor. Once registered, participants will receive an email with important details to help them plan their parade entry. Floats, convertibles, trucks, golf carts, bikes, horseback riders, and walkers are all expected at the parade, which will take place rain or shine.

Following the parade, guests can look forward to a fun evening in the "Bear Backyard" located behind the high school. The backyard will be a high-energy space with a DJ, food trucks, grade-specific areas, and a variety of action-packed activities for teenagers including a mechanical bull, inflatable obstacles, bungee trampolines, a dunk tank, foam pit, and more! Younger participants can enjoy a "Cub Corner" with age-appropriate inflatables, face painting and bubbles.

The JamBEARee is the brainchild of a small group of Cambridge mama bears whose children participate in several different Cambridge clubs and sports. Discussions began in the spring about the group's desire to build new events and traditions at the high school to make Homecoming week extra special for the students and surrounding community.

"The positive response we have seen from many different groups in only a few short weeks is incredible! The energy surrounding this is electric, and we hope that in addition to families whose students are currently at Cambridge, those whose children have already graduated or those who are future bears, will all come join the parade route and cheer on our student groups. It's going to be a great evening," said committee member, Shelley Massey.

Because the event is free to the general public, the planning committee is offering a limited number of business sponsorships ranging from $500-$5,000, as well as individual family sponsorships for $100 each. All money raised will go to cover operational costs associated with the event. Should funds raised exceed the costs necessary for the JamBEARee, the school’s administration and the Cambridge Athletic Association will use any excess to host a school-wide homecoming week activity that benefits the entire student body.
