Why are you seeking elective office?

I chose to be a member of the Milton City Council because we need an experienced leader with a strong voice and a successful track record of stopping overdevelopment and defeating tax increases in order to protect our Milton brand and equestrian community. I've served my country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, I serve on my local government as a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and I serve my neighborhood as Chair of the HOA Architecture Committee.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

We have many opportunities to not only maintain our quality of life, but also to improve it. One of the most pressing issues here in Milton is overdevelopment. We have to do our best to protect landowners by offering incentives such as CUVAs and additional property tax exemptions to better enable them to preserve their land. When the landowners decide that they prefer to sell, then we should work with those developers to encourage larger lot sizes. As a community, many feel that one of our primary goals in Milton is to preserve open space and continue to have the best possible quality of life.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

In addition to my leadership on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and my graduation from a citizens' police academy, I have always been directly involved in my community and in local government. I've donated my salary on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board back to the City of Milton to support Camp Joyful Soles which serves our special needs families. With my MBA in finance, I have more than 20 years of budget developing and planning for multi-million dollar programs. My experience in local government, my service to our country, my background, and my interest in what our citizens have to say sets me apart.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I led a 500-member community organization in defeating a $100 million-dollar county-wide tax increase and fought against the development of 400 acres of open space.

What do you like best about living in your city (or county)?

I am passionate about protecting Milton. We need someone with experience to ensure we support all of our citizens and to help our small businesses thrive. We are a wonderful community that also happens to be one of the safest cities in the entire state. We have great schools, excellent role models, and a variety of recreational activities for our citizens.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am eager to work for the citizens of Milton. My experience and my interest in hearing from people in the community means that I will be a strong and passionate voice for our citizens.
