Why are you seeking elective office?

During my professional career, I concentrated my efforts on being as successful possible. Due to time restraints, I did very little volunteering at that time. Since retiring, I feel it is my responsibility to make contributions to my community, my neighborhood and Milton through volunteering in a variety of area's.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Land Use - There is a great deal of pressure on our city to allow higher density. We need to follow the guidelines set forth in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan in order to maintain and preserve the currant rural look and feel of Milton. Another beneficial way to control density is to restrict the expansion of sewers.

What are your short- and long-term goals if you are elected?

A major short term goal for me will be working with the council and city staff to identify land that can be purchased for the use of active parks. A long term goal would be, after the purchase of land, moving forward with the development of the active parks.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am running unopposed

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

During my business career my promotions from within the organization were due to my ability to successfully work with others to obtain specific goals. In business and in my tenure as the Crooked Creek Treasurer, I understand the importance of managing budgets. I have been pressed to make many difficult budget decisions in order to move projects/programs forward, while always maintaining fiscal responsibility.

What do you like best about living in your city (or county)?

Living in Milton provides the rural small town atmosphere. The fact that all members of our community can have input in the direction of the city is also a positive factor.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

When working on the 2040 Comprehensive Plan , the following comment was made: "Land converted from Agricultural Use rarely returns back to Agricutural use. We need to put this at the forefront of our thoughts when considering land use issues.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

With my background mindset in the business world, it is important to listen to our citizens in order to ascertain how they feel about issues. Great ideas and solutions often have come from our citizens.

My leisure time allows for golf, traveling, working around the house, traveling and enjoying my family and friends.
