Realtors Donate to Habitat For Humanity
Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia serves less fortunate residents in Alpharetta and Milton.

The Cherokee Association of Realtors (CAOR) members raised $6,200 through fundraisers this year, to help Cherokee families own affordable homes through their partnership with Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia. CAOR has presented several checks to Habitat throughout the year, and the last check of the year was presented during their final membership meeting for 2014 in November.
Members of CAOR have partnered with Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia for several years, and know how much families value home ownership.
“A home is more than four walls, a door, and windows,” said Sarah Cutright, Resource Development Director at Habitat North Central Georgia. “A home also provides safety, security, and a warm place for family members to grow.” Community outreach and giving back is something that is near and dear to members of CAOR, who continue to increase their community outreach and service every year.

In 2014, CAOR committed to helping the Fregene family realize their dream of home ownership. The funds raised by members of CAOR were used to purchase necessary building materials for the home. Additionally, CAOR brought dozens of their members to volunteer to help with the building the home for Boyo Fregene and her family.

Each family is required to attend 6 educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30 percent and 60 percent of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which provides them with a 30-year, no-interest loan.
Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. These families not only get to experience the pride of homeownership but they also know that their lives will be changed forever.
