Contract Awarded To Build North Fulton STEM High School
The $57.8 million project is expected to open in fall 2020 on the former Milton High School campus.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The Fulton County School Board took an important step last week towards the opening of the new North Fulton STEM high School. Board members at their June 21 meeting awarded a $57.8 million construction contract to Barton Malow to build the new facility in Alpharetta.
The yet-to-be-named school will be located on the former Milton High School campus near downtown Alpharetta. Demolition of the old building began in the spring, and construction work is scheduled to begin in July. The contract includes construction services for the high school as well as associated sitework and parking. FCS notes the project is expected to wrap by in time for the facility to open in fall 2020.
Hallmarks of the school include an integrated curriculum, a focus on Technology and Health Science, and an emphasis on design thinking. Design thinking is a problem-solving process that combines creative and analytical approaches that require the integration of knowledge and skills across multiple disciplines. Partnerships with STEM-focused corporations also will contribute significantly through their impact with students, teachers, and the facility.
