Emergency Weather Sirens Back Online In Alpharetta, Milton
The city of Alpharetta said the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency has loaned it a portable siren repeater.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The emergency weather siren system in Alpharetta and Milton is back up and running thanks to the help of the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency.
The city of Alpharetta said the agency has loaned the city the equipment needed to bring the system back online. Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard said AFCEMA is allowing the city to use a portable repeater "that will make us operational until the permanent replacement equipment is arrived and installed."
"AFCEMA is not charging us for use of the equipment," he added. Drinkard added the city does not have an ETA on when the new equipment will arrive, but expects the order could take a few weeks.

As readers recall, damage reported Thursday to the equipment caused the sirens, which service both Alpharetta and Milton, to become inoperable.
Alpharetta police officer Jeffrey Ross said detectives are investigating the incident, which was discovered when "unforced entry was made" to the shed housing the siren repeater. Several cables connected to the device were cut and the repeater was missing.

"It’s unknown at this time if this is related to any other prior incidents, but (it) is actively being investigated by our detectives," Ross said.
Ross added it's unknown how much it will cost to replace the stolen siren repeater and cables.
