Follow Alpharetta Laws for Garage Sale Signs or Risk a Fine
The city issued a reminder about its ordinances that restrict where and when you can place your garage and yard sale signs, and even how big those signs can be.

This weekend's rain may have ruined garage sales across Alpharetta, but when Spring temperatures finally arrive, don't risk losing your signs or getting a fine by breaking the city's sign ordinance.
The city offered guidelines on when and where you can post your signs that will help you avoid penalties and fines:
- Put your signs out after midnight on the Thursday prior to your sale and remove them before midnight that Sunday.
- Place your signs at least 1,000 feet apart.
- Do not place your signs in the public right-of-way. Typically placing your signs behind the sidewalk but inside a line formed by the row of utility poles will ensure compliance.
- Do not place your signs in the Historic Downtown Business District. This area is bounded to the north by Church Street, to the east by Haynes Bridge Road, to the south by Marietta Street, and to the west by Milton Center (the former Milton High School site).
- Do not place your signs in any divided medians, on utility poles, or on any traffic signs or poles.
- Make sure that your signs do not exceed 4 square feet in size.
If you have questions or would like further explanation, call the city’s Code Enforcement Officers at 678-297-6080.
