Former Milton Principal Named FCS Chief Academic Officer
Clifford Jones is the current area superintendent for the school system's Northeast Learning Community.

MILTON, GA — The Fulton County School Board at its Thursday, April 12 meeting named former Milton High School Principal Clifford Jones to serve as chief academic officer for the school system.
Jones will formally take over the position on July 1, 2018. He is currently the area superintendent of the district’s Northeast Learning Community and the interim area superintendent of the Northwest Learning Community, which includes the schools in the cities of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton and Roswell.
“Cliff Jones has spent 17 years in Fulton County Schools, and has proven himself as a dedicated, collaborative, student-centered leader,” said Superintendent Jeff Rose, Ed.D. “His appointment will ensure a seamless transition and add his unique knowledge and skills to further our academic mission.”

This announcement is part of a district succession plan; current academic leader and deputy superintendent, Dr. Rob Anderson, was selected last month as superintendent of the Boulder Valley School District in Colorado.
Jones previously served in the district office as the acting chief of strategy and innovation and the executive director of accountability where he led the district reaccreditation process, was a member of the executive cabinet, and worked with school leaders on data literacy.

He started his career as a social studies teacher at Milton High School and later taught the same subject at River Trail Middle School. Subsequently, Jones served as assistant principal and principal at Milton High.
