Freedom Award To Be Presented

(MILTON, GA 09/20/2023) – Fisher Bryant, a senior at Cambridge High School, in Milton, GA has earned Trail Life USA's highest advancement award, the prestigious Freedom Award. Only a few young men reach the pinnacle of the Trail Life USA program and Fisher is the first person in Milton, GA to earn the elite award. A member of Stonecreek Church and Troop GA-0317 (Perimeter Church), Fisher is one of only a very small percentage of boys in the nation who earn the Freedom Award. Bryant will be recognized in a ceremony on October 3.

Each Freedom Award candidate must serve the community with a minimum of 20 hours each school year, earn 25 Trail Badges, complete 4 Freedom Experiences, successfully plan and lead a Servant Leadership Project benefiting the community or faith-based organization, complete the spiritual development "Worthy Life" award, and sit for a Board of Review to become a Freedom Rangeman. Bryant completed his major Freedom experience in the area of Shooting Sports, and two minor Freedom experiences in the area of Mentoring.

For his Servant Leadership Project, Bryant chose to build a large wooden team-building ‘Challenge Wall’ for Camp Arrowhead at Stonecreek Church in Milton. “As a Camp Counselor at Camp Arrowhead, I chose this project because I wanted to give back to the community and to Stonecreek Church for helping me become the person I am today.”

“Trail Life USA has helped me prepare for the future and has added lifetime achievements to my resume,” said Bryant.

Fisher is the son of Heath and Rebecca Bryant of Milton, GA and is a member of Troop GA-0317, chartered to and owned by Perimeter Church in Johns Creek. After high school graduation, Fisher is planning to pursue a career in the military and the field of finance. Bryant said that some of the highlights of his Trail Life USA 10-year experience include leading over 300 youth at summer adventure camp and whitewater rafting the New River Gorge in West Virginia. As Milton Georgia’s first recipient of the Freedom Award and member of Trail Life since 2014, Bryant has had the opportunity to mentor many boys and young men over the years. He said that he hopes to do as much as possible to help others reach the Freedom Award.
