GA Man Pleads Guilty To Kicking Officers During Capitol Riot

An Alpharetta man has pleaded guilty to striking, pushing and kicking law enforcement officers during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A Georgia man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to assaulting law enforcement officers during the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

According to court documents, Kevin Douglas Creek, 47, of Alpharetta, assaulted two law enforcement officers, according to the Department of Justice. Creek pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. He faces up to eight years in prison as well as three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing was scheduled for March 10, 2022.

On Jan. 6, Creek hit the hand of an officer from the Metropolitan Police Department who was holding a baton. He then put his hand under the shoulder of a U.S. Capitol Police Officer, and pushed before kicking the officer, according to the Department of Justice. The assaults took place in the West Terrace area of the Capitol.

Creek, a former Marine and current roofing business owner, was arrested in Johns Creek on June 9. He remains released pending sentencing.

In the 10 months since Jan. 6, more than 675 individuals have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including over 210 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section. Valuable assistance was provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office and the FBI’s Washington Field Office, which identified Creek as No. 296 in its seeking information photos.
