UPDATED: Man Indicted on Charges He Stabbed Dog More Than 20 Times

Alpharetta resident Philemon Delouise, 27, was taking care of a friend's two-year-old dog when the alleged incident happened.

A Fulton County grand jury has returned an indictment against an Alpharetta resident accused of attacking a friend’s dog left in his care.

The grand jury indicted Philemon Delouise, 27, on three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals in connection to the alleged attack on Roxy, a two-year-old pit bull terrier mix, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said on Thursday.

The indictment stems from an incident that occurred on Feb. 28 at Delouise’s home on Village Green Way. The defendant was taking care of Roxy for a friend when he allegedly held down the dog and “repeatedly” stabbed her nearly 24 times, the indictment alleges.

She was later taken outside and left to die, the DA’s office said. Roughly nine hours after the attack, Roxy was taken to a veterinarian, who referred her to an emergency clinic. Roxy survived the attack and receives ongoing medical care stemming from the incident.

Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesperson George Gordon said officers responded to the clinic in reference to the alleged attack.

Upon interviewing the dog’s owner, they learned Roxy had been left in Delouise’s care and when she arrived to pick up the dog, “she discovered it had been stabbed,” Gordon added.

“Other Alpharetta police officers went to the residence and discovered a gruesome scene whereupon it was discovered a dog had been stabbed repeatedly by a person,” he added.

Gordon added officers “immediately” arrested Delouise and took him into custody.

“Thankfully, Roxy is truly a miracle dog, as she survived this unbelievable attack because of the great work done by the Roswell Animal Hospital veterinarian Dr. [Jennifer Ottmann] Dicicco,” he added, also praising the work of Alpharetta officers.

Gordon also said Roxy’s surgical costs were over $8,000, and residents can donate to help offset the costs by contributing to a charity called Lifeline.

The case against Delouise has been assigned to Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville. A trial date is pending, the DA’s office said.
