Milton Burglary Suspect Captured In Spalding County

Omisha Sands, accused of burglarizing four homes listed for sale in 3 Milton subdivisions, was arrested Oct. 29 at a relative's home.

SPALDING COUNTY, GA -- The woman accused of carrying out a string of burglaries in Milton subdivisions over the summer was arrested over the weekend. The Spalding County Sheriff's Office notified Milton police of its Oct. 29 apprehension of Omisha Sands of Austell, the city of Milton said late Wednesday evening.

Sands was wanted in connection with burglaries reported in the Brookshade, Champions View and Vickery Crest subdivisions in July of this year. According to Milton police, the four burglaries took place July 20-30. In all instances, the homes were vacant, but furnished and up for sale.

The first three incidents occurred in the Brookshade and Vickery Crest subdivisions while the fourth took place in Champions View. In all incidents, the homes were not wired for alarms and the suspects entered through the back of the homes, typically through a basement window or door, Milton police said.

Sands had been on the run from police since she was identified as one of two suspects in the burglaries and was located by Spalding County deputies at the home of one of her relatives, the city said.

Sands faces charges in Spalding, Cobb and Fulton counties for alleged incidents that continued since she was identified as a burglary suspect. Once she is transported to the Fulton County Jail, Milton police detectives will interview her in the hopes of learning more information about the crimes in the city.
