Again led by senior Riley Burr, the Lady Eagles made a big impression on the Florida Relays. Burr set a new personal best & school record in the 1600 meters. Her 4:54.65 broke her previous best & the school record by just over a second. Starting conservatively, Burr moved through the pack of top-regional runners to finish a strong runner up (2nd-4:54.65). Also competing in the 1600m was junior Brooke Aumer (16th-5:30.51) who ran a personal best & finished 3rd in her heat. Burr also competed in the 3200m run where she ran to yet another personal best (by over 30 seconds) and the 2nd-fastest time in Milton history to finish 3rd (10:57.76).
BOYS
Senior Jack Bluth broke the 3-year-old Eagle school record in the 1600m (5th-4:16.41) by over 2.5 seconds in the invitational 1600 race. Bluth, who ran mid-pack for the majority of the first half of the race, ran a very strong 3rd lap to position himself near the front. Bluth again made a final surge for the win but was overtaken in the last few meters. For Bluth this was a 4.5 second personal best as well. Senior Quin Lyles-Woods had a fourth place finish (4th-146’1”) in the discus which featured many top throwers in the southeastern US! Fellow senior Matt McGorrey ran to the 7th-fastest time in school history in the 3200m while finishing 2nd in his heat (14th-9:44.90) and senior John Fravel just missed his personal best in the 800m and also finished 2nd in his heat (15th-1:58.73).
