Milton's City Pool To Reopen Saturday With Safety Measures

MILTON, GA — Milton's City Pool will open to the public, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
Swimmers can enjoy the city pool, located on 1785 Dinsmore Rd., at the former Milton Country Club, starting Saturday morning after Fulton County authorities' recent inspection approval.
Despite numerous challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, that timing is on schedule with previous years. Several things will be different, however, for the 2020 season.

For starters, the city will take several steps aimed at curbing COVID-19. While this coronavirus isn't believed to be contagious in chlorinated water, it can spread through the air, touched surfaces and on contact. To prevent that, there will be enhanced cleaning at the pool, furniture may be shifted to encourage social distancing, and signs (like the two shown below) will be posted around the deck. In addition, the city has devised special, additional rules for pool visitors related to COVID-19. Review those rules here on the Milton City Pool website.

Those who cool off safely should enjoy an experience that's better than ever. The Milton City Pool has undergone numerous notable upgrades in recent weeks, including:

- Brand-new pool chairs and tables
- A completely resurfaced deck with "Kool Deck" coating to make it feel cool to the feet even in the summer sun
- Stainless steel dive blocks, replacing the old wooden ones
- New flag stanchions and trash bins
- A rebuilt pump house equipped with vented steel doors, replaced siding, interior lighting, a new electrical system, as well as new vents to disperse chlorine fumes and keep the temperature down.
- More space where the now removed pool bar used to be, under the cleaned-off awning
- A state-of-the-art lightning detector with an alerting system that emits a sustained 15-second horn blast while its strobe flashes when lightning is detected in the area, signaling people to immediately seek shelter
The pool will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. until school resumes in August, at which point the weekday hours will change to 4 to 8 p.m. You can buy a seasonal pool pass - with prices varying depending on family size - online. Daily gate passes can be purchased for $5 per person.
