More Than 550 Christmas Trees Recycled at Bring One For The Chipper

The city of Milton partnered with the Milton Grows Green committee for the Jan. 3 event.

Volunteers at the annual Bring One For the Chipper event Jan. 3 collected more than 550 Christmas trees for recycling, the city of Milton said Monday in a press release.

Recyclers for the event, co-hosted by the city of Milton and the Milton Grows Green Committee, dropped off Christmas trees at three locations: Milton High School, Scottsdale Farms and the Home Depot on Windward Parkway.

Volunteers from the Alpharetta Rotary Club and Young Men’s Service League gave out seeds and saplings donated by the Rotarians and Boy Scout Troop No. 841 used the drop-off points for its annual tree pick-up effort.

The trees were chipped into mulch by the Davey Tree Expert Company. Mulch is used for public beautification projects. The initiative was part of Keep Georgia Beautiful’s Bring One For The Chipper statewide initiative.

Since 1991 the program has collected more than five million trees and provided over one million tree seedlings to participants. Last year more than 250,000 trees were recycled. The program produces tangible environmental benefits.
