ALPHARETTA, GA — A new executive director has been named for the Ed Isakson/Alpharetta YMCA.

Kim Nelson has been selected as the new leader after serving her home branch, J.M. Tull-Gwinnett Family YMCA, while also overseeing the Alpharetta YMCA since early April.

Nelson will remain the executive director of the Gwinnett location as the Alpharetta branch continues to work to develop a long-term leadership strategy for that branch, the Alpharetta YMCA said in a press release.

Since 2000, Nelson has worked for the YMCA in Alpharetta as the Children's Services Director. She eventually oversaw 24 after-school sites and year-round camping programs. She served as Alpharetta's Associate Executive Director from 2007 until 2012 when she became the Executive Director in Gwinnett.

The former Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA Executive Director Scott Doll announced his last day with the organization was April 16.

In an email to YMCA members, Doll wrote, "it is with a heavy heart that I share that I have made the decision to leave my position at the YMCA on April 16th, in order to spend some much needed time with my family. I am truly grateful for the overwhelming support, encouragement and the friendships that have been built during my nearly 20 years with my YMCA Family."

Doll said his time with the Metro Atlanta Y has been "wonderful and rewarding, with friendships among members, staff and this community that will last my lifetime."

"I wish you all the very best as the Y moves toward an exciting new chapter in continued service to our community," he wrote. "Thank you for the impact you have made on my life."

Branch staff remain, and in the interim, they said they would additionally be supported by Nelson. She can be reached at KimN@ymcaatlanta.org or 770-513-5958.
