Police Arrest Suspect Accused Of Upskirting Woman

A woman told police she was shopping at Walmart when she saw a man crouched behind her and holding a smartphone below her skirt.

MILTON, GA — Milton police have arrested a North Georgia man who is accused of using his smartphone to upskirt a female shopper earlier this week at a big box retailer.

James Barron, 27, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Friday, May 25 on one count of felony surreptitious recording of intimate body parts, the agency said.

The victim told Milton police she was shopping at Walmart at 5200 Windward Parkway around 2:35 p.m. Monday, May 21 when she noticed an unknown man following her.

"After hearing two clicks, which sounded like a camera taking a picture on a smartphone, she turned around and saw the same white male, semi crouched behind her holding a smartphone below her skirt," Milton police said in its alert.

After she turned around, the man began to walk away. The woman, however, followed the suspect and as he continued to flee, she took a photo of him using her smartphone. Following the incident, Milton police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert to help identify the suspect. Once he was identified, detectives issued an arrest warrant for Barron.
