The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is asking the public to help them locate two suspects involved in what they refer to as a “bump and run” armed robbery.
Alpharetta police are investigating the incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8 along the northbound side of S.R. 400 north of Windward Parkway.

According to the agency’s Facebook page, two women in a grey Mini Cooper were sideswiped by two men driving a large black pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tundra. When both vehicles pulled over to the emergency lane to report the accident, the men allegedly left the truck and proceeded to rob the two women at gunpoint, police said.
“Passing motorist may have thought they were witnessing a minor automobile accident, which was actually an armed robbery in progress,” the agency said.

The first suspect is described as a small-framed black male wearing a light gray hooded jacket and regular blue jeans. He is believed to be between 17 and 22 years old and between 5’4’’ and 5’6’’ tall. Suspect 2 is described as a black male between 18 and 22 years old and was wearing a red hooded jacket.
“As this type of bump and rob event is unusual, it may be a new tactic being used by criminals to rob people who believed they were involved in a traffic accident,” Alpharetta police wrote. Residents who are bumped by another vehicle are encouraged to safely obtain the license plate number of the vehicle in question and contact local law enforcement authorities to advise them of the accident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or the saw the two vehicles in the area — which is near the Forsyth-Fulton County border — is asked to call Lt. Jones with Alpharetta’s Criminal Investigations Division at 678-297-6319. Residents who wish to remain anonymous can submit a tip using the agency’s website.
