Officers arrived onto the scene and began to search for the vehicle in question. An Alpharetta officer spotted a vehicle matching the description near the entrance of a gated community along Haynes Bridge Road, according to the report.
When that officer tried to make contact with the individuals in the vehicle, “the Jeep left in a hurry and failed to stop” when the officer activated his lights and sirens, the report states.
Officers with the Alpharetta Police Department chased the Jeep down Haynes Bridge Road and onto S.R. 400 northbound. The Jeep continued to travel north on the highway to just north of the Windward Parkway interchange where an officer utilized stop sticks in an effort to get the vehicle to stop.
The sticks were effective, and the Jeep came to a stop at the woodline along S.R. 400 northbound between Windward and McFarland parkways.
“An unknown number of occupants got out of the vehicle and ran into the woodline,” the report states.
An officer and his K-9 and two additional officers began a track in the woodline for the suspects from the Jeep. They were able to trace the suspects to a location in Forsyth County before they lost track.
Meanwhile, at the leasing office, officers noted its front window was smashed using a rock and and the lock on the front door was also removed, according to the report. Several items were taken inside, including a large, flat-screen television monitor and a laptop.
