Sal Lodi Inducted Into Wisconsin Soccer Hall Of Fame

The longtime Alpharetta resident was inducted under the player category.

The banquet ceremony took place at the American Serb Hall in Milwaukee Wisconsin where Sal was inducted in the player category. He was introduced by Aleks Nikolic, his longtime friend, coach and mentor.

Sal played 4 years of varsity soccer at Milwaukee Technical HS. He then received a scholarship and played collegiate soccer at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM) for 4 years. During that time, he also joined the Milwaukee Kickers organization where he took part in their grass roots effort to promote organized soccer in the Milwaukee area. Besides playing, he was heavily involved in coaching youth teams ranging from U6 through U17 including three select teams.

He became the director and head coach for the Summer Youth Clinics from 1977 to 1980. Sal remained with the Kickers organization for a total of 15 years until 1988 when he and his wife Patti and daughter Melissa moved to Alpharetta Georgia for a job transfer with GE Medical Systems.

Some of his playing accomplishments are:

> Selected three times by the Wisconsin Soccer Association Junior all star team, where he played under Bob Gansler, who later coached the US National Team at the 1990 World Cup held in Italy.

> Lettered 4 years at UWM

> Three time recipient of MVP award with the Milwaukee Kickers

> Named outstanding player of the UW-Milwaukee Panther invitational tournament 2 years in a row.

Note:

The Milwaukee Kickers organization started in 1968 and had a total of about 80 players across 5 teams, 4 youth teams and one adult team. Today, the organization has 6,000 members including 800 coaches and 650 teams.
